LMCPD Blue Room
In our blue room, we provide child care Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.
We hire qualified staff!! Our staff in the blue room have a combined 26 years of experience working at LMCPD. Our staff also attend many classes each year to learn more about teaching children developmentally appropriate practicies. All of our staff are also trained in CPR, First Aid, Child Abuse Reporting, and Child Development. Overall, our staff are committed to quality care and strive to meet the needs of the children and their families.
Nutritious snacks are provided each day and our menus are reviewed by the Department of Education's Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). We provide breakfast, morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack to the children attending our programs. All meals and snacks are prepared in-house by our cook and are provided to children free of charge.
We provide positive discipline that considers the developmental level of the child, teaches the children that they must be responsible for their own actions, and agrees that each child is a precious and important person who needs to feel good about him/herself.
Communication between LMCPD staff and parents is very important for children enrolled in our program. Daily forms are filled out by parents in the morning when they drop off their child and our staff update them throughout the day as to how much the children ate, when they slept, when they had their diaper changed, etc.
Daily activities in our blue room provide children with many opportunities to explore and develop according to each child's developmental stage. Our program and routine provides stimulation, exploration, noises and sounds to encourage language development. We provide lots of opportunities to play independently or in groups.
An example of our daily activities include: recognizing our name, learning to pick up our toys, experimenting with different types of art forms (painting, play dough, coloring, etc.), puzzles, center time, toilet training, and circle time (calendar, weather, counting). We also have a weekly cooking activity in which our children "make" something to eat for snack. (The children love to cook!!) Some examples of things we have made in the past include: chocolate milk, pudding, puppy chow, smoothies, mini pizzas, and cookies. Lastly, we also spend time each day participating in large motor activities. We have a wonderful playground located right outside our classrooms as well as an indoor gym to run in when it is too wet or cold to be outside.
